What is a Physician Assistant?

I was born in Longbeach, California but grew up outside of Cleveland, Ohio.  I received my undergraduate degree from the University of Toledo in Biology and Chemistry.  I have always known I wanted to be in the medical field.  I decided that becoming a Physician Assistant offered a good compromise between being able to offer patient care and still having time to have a family.   

Before PA school I trained and worked first as an Emergency Medical Technician and then a Paramedic.  I worked both on a rescue squad and in the Emergency Department of a Level 1 trauma center in Cleveland, Ohio.   I graduated from PA school in 2002 and started looking for a job in Internal Medicine or Primary Care.  

My husband I came to Arizona on vacation and liked it so much we decided to look for jobs here!  I worked for a year and a half in Rheumatology before coming to Thunderbird Internal Medicine.  While I enjoyed both Emergency Medicine and Rheumatology my true desire has always been to work in Internal Medicine where you can develop a relationship with your patients and become their advocate for preventive care.   

My husband and I have been married since 2000.  We have a dog named Chookie and cat named Bijou Le Mew and we are looking forward to starting a family.  I enjoy traveling, reading and spending time with friends and family.
